THE USE OF APOS IN THE LANGUAGE OF JOURNALISM BETWEEN 1940-1942 EXAMPLE OF “TASVÎR-İ EFKÂR”

Abstract

Language is not only a tool that enables nations to communicate with each other, but also has a key role in transferring emotions, thoughts and ideas. Thanks to this feature, communication unity has been formed between societies and people have strengthened their ties in other societies. In addition to language, communication organs have also been used in the expression of feelings and thoughts, and in this process, newspapers have become an important tool for conveying people's feelings and thoughts.

From the past to the present, many topics and emotions have been included in the language of journalism, and these topics have been linked to periods, administrators, individuals and society. The parallelism of newspapers with social events requires them to be in a guiding, thought-provoking and guiding position for the public to adopt and read the newspaper. In this context, the newspaper Tasvir-i Efkâr succeeded in influencing the society and maintained its status, especially during the 2nd Constitutional Monarchy period, under the management of Ebuzziya Tevfik.

It is important for newspapers to write articles in line with the needs of the society. For example, between 1940 and 1942, articles focusing on the effects of World War II in Tasvir-i Efkâr played a guiding and thought-provoking role in the society. The pithy sayings presented under the title "Vecizeler" in this period were not only wise expressions, but also served a guiding function for the society in accordance with the needs of the period The focus on social-social, political-military, individual, language and religious issues in this column enabled the newspaper to address a variety of perspectives.
